Affiliate Marketing can be a great way to build wealth and capitalize on the traffic you are pushing to your site from PPC and SEO efforts. Basically you are letting Google put ads on your site via AdSense, and every time someone clicks on one of those ads, you get a commission. It isn’t much, can be pennies at a time, or sometimes dollars at a time (depending on the cost of click you’re sending to Google). But bottom line – as long as it costs you less to acquire those clicks than the commission you’re receiving, it will make you money.

Remember, you want to pay less for the click than Google Adsense is going to be paying you for it. You have to find ways to get traffic on your site that will be willing to use long-tail search terms that you have paid very little for. For example, let’s say that your site is promoting DUI Attorney, or some click that is equally high-dollar. Since that runs about $30 for each click on Google, your commission from AdSense is going to be much higher than if you were advertising for something which only cost $5 a click.

So lets say you find some inexpensive long-tail keyword search terms like DUI Attorney Pasadena, CA. And since you’ll bid for a lower position (say at .25 per click), you hope to get the lower-cost clicks to get people to your site.

You also need to make sure that your site offers things relating to this click, like articles on DUI or traffic laws in Pasadena or anything of this nature, which will not only make people come to your site but be willing to click on the Adsense ad you are running, from which you are making $1 per click. You have to agree that this doesn’t sound like that bad of a deal; however, if nobody is clicking on your ads, then you are going to be losing the money you have invested — this really is a risky business. Not everyone has what it takes to make money through buying low cost clicks and then running them on their own websites. You are going to have to be willing to invest not only money, but the time and effort necessary to figure out exactly what is going to work the best to make a profit.

OR, you can invest that time in a wiser fashion by focusing on SEO as a source for those long-tail search keywords. You can do the same amount of work, get words that are less competitive, and if your page is correctly optimized, you will be better off in the long run. No matter your CTR, you are going to end up having to invest less of your capital in the venture. Your time is going to be the biggest investment you will have to make. Once you have invested the necessary time, whether you end up making a lot of money in this venture or only a little, it is not going to cost you anything out of your own wallet.

The only way you’ll ever understand how to use a search engine effectively, is by first making a point of understanding how they work. In other words, you need to get a grip on the fundamental concepts of the various search engines before you’ll be able to use them to your advantage. As you no doubt already know, search engines can be immensely confusing, but providing you’re willing to delve a little deeper in order to get a basic understanding, you’ll soon begin to realize just how they work.

Search engines are used to catalog all the websites and web pages on the internet. Search engines are programs that scan for information, content, in order to categorize it. When an internet user enters a search term and presses enter, they will then get pages of relevant websites and web pages that match their search query.

The first basic function of a search engine is to crawl the web, and in order to do this, the search engines make use of highly sophisticated software commonly referred to as a crawler or spider. These crawlers or spiders will follow the millions of links which are present on the web. However, you need to bear in mind that the crawlers are only able to scan for text. In other words they are unable to recognize videos, java script, or in fact anything which is password protected.

Once the spider has completed the scanning process and gathered all the necessary information, it is then able to index it. Generally speaking, the index is a massive data base which serves as an information bank for the search engines. When a computer user types in a search, the search engines will search this database. In order to supply results which are relevant to a search, the information which is stored in the data bank is assigned to various key words and keyword phrases. This is of course also where the millions of web sites are ranked and organized so that they can be displayed in search results.

The next thing that happens is the search by an internet user. You have probably used a search engine to find information, so you know that you type a term into the search engine, press enter and you get pages of results. The search engine will take the term you enter, compare it to the database and process the search request. Each search engine has its own way to process and figure which websites and web pages match your search term. These are called algorithms. Once the search engine has processed the request the results are returned to you and you get the pages of relevant websites and web pages.

Of course all search engines are different due to the fact that they all use different algorithms, and this is why you would be presented with different results from the different search engines even if you typed in the exact same search criteria. This is largely because the different algorithms place emphasis on different factors such as links, meta tags, and keyword density. The results you get will depend largely on which factors are considered to be more important by each of the search engines. Another thing to bear in mind is that the search engines change their algorithms frequently which of course make things even more complicated than they already are.

Ideally, when you go about trying to optimize your website or your web page for the various search engines, you should at least try to establish which algorithms each search engine is using. SEO (Search engine optimization) is nowadays a crucial part of successful Internet marketing and in order to do it effectively, one needs to continuously be adding fresh content to a website. In fact you will need to make various changes to your website or web page periodically in order to maintain a high ranking with regards to your keyword and keyword phrases.

Having a thorough knowledge regarding the way search engines work and how they rank websites is the key to successful SEO. Furthermore, SEO is something which will be required continuously on your web sites due to the fact that the various to search engines are forever changing their algorithms and other related criteria. The only way for you to stay ahead of the game is by keeping pace with these changes.
